home sweet home

Semester may be coming to an end but numerous hours in the studio are about to commence. Here are a few shots from my work area. Classrooms in a three story grade school are no longer filled with third graders but painters and aspiring artists.

rrg

A few weeks ago in October I took a trip to the Red River Gorge for the first time. It exceeded any expectations and was even more lovely than I had imagined. This is my favorite photo from the trip...

bright eyes

One night I met this little guy, he bought me a beer. He also had bright eyes and a kind heart.

Giant Peach will be cracking the books, teaching a few lessons, and painting til her heart is happy.

postal intentions

There's something about a handwritten letter that makes me long for the days before technology became a priority. I need to send out fun mail to some friends which will be traveling to Norway, Brooklyn, Oregon, and a few other places.

This photo was taken in Milltown, IN and it makes me very happy. Maxine has included all the essentials in life...

watermelon & mint

Pretty sure if being a mixologist could be a career, I would excel. It calls for the following: Sapphire gin, Santa Cruz organic lemonade, soda water and garnish with watermelon and fresh mint. Enjoy! (the glasses are vintage from my great grandmother)

peachy coffee

One morning NPJ snapped this photo. I think everyone should start their day off right by drinking their coffee while wearing a Giant Peach creation.

July 25, 2011

reds & skylines

This weekend I took a little trip with some friends to Cincinnati to watch a Reds game. Doesn't get much better than baseball, nachos, and beer on a hot summer day.

Recently I started learning some chords on guitar but alas I still cannot play an actual song.

lazy lizard

One of my favorite evening activities this summer has been sitting on Jenn's back balcony and chitty chatting while partaking in libations. This little guy hangs out with us and tells us endless stories.

reflections

Over the years I have become obsessed with photos which have reflections. I think it's the play on dimensions and the conversion of one world melding with another. A venture to the infamous quarry was recently made where we befriended the fish, soaked up the sun, and I snapped this photo of Laura and myself. I love the colors, the reflection, and the way our hair is all wild.

oregon, goats, and julie

What does Oregon, goats, and Julie have in common??? When I was younger I had a white goat named Annie, after my favorite childhood character, Annie Oakley. Since then I've always had a soft spot for goats and the photo below was taken at a place called Wandering Goat Coffee when I was in Oregon visiting my dear friend Julie. Therefore, the thing they all three have in common is my love and admiration.

aranciata

It may not be peachy, but San Pellegrino Aranciata is the next best thing on a hot and steamy day.

where it all began

This photo was taken on the balcony just minutes before my dear friends Jenn & Jeremy's wedding. Was an amazing wedding down in New Orleans, which is where Jenn is from, and this is the trip where Giant Peach all began. I purchased my dress in Key West the previous winter and wanted a special statement piece to wear with it and couldn't find anything I liked. So I gathered my materials and made my first Giant Peach headband using a vintage broach and feathers! From that moment on Giant Peach has grown into many different accessories. It's funny to look back and see how much Jenn and I have both changed.

ribbons & cameos

Giant Peach has been contemplating a new line of accessories for brides. Cameos, ribbon, lace, feathers, and all things vintage have been a good source for inspiration. Something about weddings make me giddy with joy.

Sometimes I wish I could just sail away. I believe Christopher Cross said it best.

On a recent trip, while partaking in some wine at Sasha's, this was found in the ladies restroom.

pink peonies

When I was a child I remember my great grandmother had peony bushes, tulips, and other lovely flowers in her yard. She was from Belgium so I guess the tulips reminded her of home and were a bit nostalgic. Gardening has become one of my favorite past times in recent years, pink peonies make my heart flutter.

pink & delicious

It's summertime and Giant Peach loves strawberry cake with homemade icing.

lost but not forgotten

I promise Giant Peach has still been hard at work creating lovely hairpieces and such, she just got a little lost along the way...
